Lightweight and minimalist, weighing 1.9 ounces, the Seaton Mini slips easily into a pocket or pairs perfectly with Ocaso’s full-grain leather EDC wallet. With no pocket clip, it maintains a slim 3/8-inch profile for discreet, comfortable carry. In action, it delivers the cutting performance you need in a stylish, timeless package.
Common Uses for This Gentlemen’s Knife
I carried this little gem for well over a month in my front, back, and cargo pockets. It carries a little awkwardly as it’s the perfect size to lie horizontally. However, I used the Ocaso EDC wallet to keep it in, and that’s when it carried well.
I found myself cutting a lot of packages open with the Seaton. Usually, I trimmed the string from fraying blue jeans and random shirts. Not glamorous stuff, but essential. Letters and luggage tags were typical around the time of the testing. I sliced limes because a gentleman may need a little garnish and citrus in their beverage.

Mostly, I did what most folding knife enthusiasts do—tinker with it. I was opening and closing it, looking for anything needing a snip or helpful slice. I know I’m not the only one!
Case Knives: An American Legacy in Your Pocket
For over 130 years, Case Knives has made more than sharp blades—they tell stories. The company started in 1889 when the Case brothers sold handcrafted knives from a wagon in New York. Later, John Russell “Russ” Case established W.R. Case & Sons, earning a reputation for quality and design. By 1905, the company relocated to Bradford, Pennsylvania, where skilled cutlers carefully crafted each knife.

Case knives have played a key role in American history, serving soldiers and even reaching the moon with NASA. Their philosophy is simple: do it right.

Every knife is made by people of integrity for those who value the same. Each blade undergoes durability tests and features premium materials like bone, stag, or horn. Collectors cherish them, workers rely on them, and families pass them down as heirlooms.

Legendary Sodbuster
The Case Sod Buster traces its roots to a traditional European farmer’s knife, valued for its simplicity and rugged utility. Case introduced its version in 1967, trademarking the “Sod Buster” name and giving the pattern a distinctly American identity.
Unlike many traditional pocket knives, it’s a “shadow pattern” with no bolsters, featuring a smooth, ergonomic handle and a strong bird’s-eye pivot. Its drop-point blade, often called a skinner, offers versatility for farm, field, and everyday chores.

Over the decades, it has earned a loyal following among collectors and users alike. It is celebrated for its no-nonsense design and dependable performance.
Today, it remains one of Case’s most enduring patterns. A true working knife with a proud place in American knife history.

Sod Buster Jr. Gentleman’s Folder
Here’s one for those gentlemen who like to get dirty and favor blue jeans and bourbon. The term “sodbuster” began as an insult for pioneer farmers but later became associated with this knife pattern, either through use or marketing by knife makers. It represents a shift between clasp knives and jack knives.
The newest addition to the namesake is the Sod Buster Jr., which can do the same amount of work. However, it’s in a more compact package. Like the original, this is a workhorse folder, suitable for overalls, pockets, or at home in the tool or tackle box.

I got the Case Knives Crossroads Black Burlap Laminate XR Sod Buster® Jr with Dayglow G10. It takes the classic ’37 Sod Buster® Jr pattern and gives it a modern performance upgrade.
The 2.8-inch S35VN stainless steel skinner blade offers excellent edge retention, corrosion resistance, and easy maintenance for daily cutting tasks. The smooth black burlap laminate handle is paired with vibrant Dayglow G10 accents. This delivers both rugged durability and high visibility in low light or outdoor settings.
A screwed-together construction ensures long-term strength and easy servicing. The compact 3.63-inch closed length and 2.1-ounce weight make it comfortable to carry all day. Overall length is 6.5 inches.
I toted the Jr. on walks, in the house, and on hikes in the woods. It was always ready to put a point on a stick for skewers, slice ham, and hot dogs for a woods BBQ.
Proudly made in Bradford, Pennsylvania, this knife blends traditional Case craftsmanship with contemporary materials for a dependable, stylish everyday companion.
