The Protectors Playbook:The Stinger Waist Whip

the stinger waist whip in action.

You would think a self-defense whip and safety tool combination would be a burden to carry. But little do you know that the good people at Stinger Survival Tools (StingerSurvivalTools.com) solved that problem. They designed an ingenious weapon that can be carried around your waist and is ready to defend in seconds. Sounds too good to be true? That’s what I thought, until I tested one, and all I can say now is beware, bad guys, because a nasty sting is coming your way!

Overview of the Stinger Waist Whip

The Stinger Concealed Carry Whip System costs $59.99 and includes the Stinger whip (with integrated glass breaker and seat belt cutter), three loop clips for beltless pants, three elastic loops for wearing a belt, and a screwdriver to switch the unit for left-handed users. Getting ready for carry and deploy is a breeze. Simply choose the style of clips needed for your pants, then thread the (industrial-grade) steel cable whip through the loops. The handle portion also stays in place with its own belt clip. When you need to release the weapon for use, just grip and remove the handle from your waist, and pull the cable through until it’s free. You’re now ready to unleash a barrage of strikes on anyone out to do you harm.

What’s Delivering the Damage?

The whip’s steel cable offers the perfect length for defense. It’s not too long to hamper you in close quarters and not too short to be no more than an annoyance to a foe. Two to three feet between yourself and an attacker is the sweet spot for dishing out defense. The effectiveness of this weapon comes from the tip of the whip as it hits with intense speed and precise impact. Couple that with a barrage of strikes that can be thrown before an attacker can even react, and you’ll gain a distinct advantage. The whip’s length also helps when defending against a handheld weapon like a stick or a knife. The Stiner whip allows you to create distance, while still delivering an overwhelming offense.

Practical or Only Novelty?

At first glance, this unique weapon may appear as just a gimmick or novelty. But trust me, it’s far from it. In fact, when using it, I could only imagine what it would be like on the receiving end. I do have to emphasize that practice with this weapon is an absolute must. An untrained person may swing wildly and strike with the mid-section of the cable. This would do little damage and just agitate the attacker, which may not end well for them. The tip at full speed will produce the needed effect. Once you become proficient with the Stinger whip and the waist carry system, you’ll be a force to be reckoned with if or when trouble comes your way.
